About Chris Mapp

Chris is a musician and sound artist from Birmingham. His main areas of artistic focus are around the use of music technology and improvisation to create new music, sounds and audio sketches. He works as both a solo artist and also as part of various ensembles. He uses electronics to manipulate source sounds (instruments, field recordings, found sounds) in real time to create unexpected sonic pictures, blurring the lines between the end of one sound and the beginning of another.

Since 2014 Chris has created several installation and performance pieces as Musician In Residence at the University of Worcester, reflecting the spaces in and around the University buildings. This includes a walking tour of the University created in collaboration with a group of the Fine Art students.
