These past few weeks have flown by in a blur leaving me no time to write about it until now. A wonderful workshop with children from Bettws Lifehouse school and an open one with the wider community were both a great success and will feed into the final piece.
Much has been added to the river of words - including in German! But no Cymraeg yet unfortunately. I should add something yn Gymraeg but it's still about having the confidence to actually put the words down in black and white. Maybe I'll write in green instead.
Now that I've been here a while I'm beginning to notice how this residency is encouraging reflection on the creative process and practice. How do I create? What do I need to create? How do the community and landscape shape the final piece?
The Drawing Room is a comfortable space for introspection, a place that seems to gently prod and push for answers to questions I didn't recognise were being asked at first and I've enjoyed discovering the answers - like a maps slowly unfolding.
I'm here for the next two Tuesdays and the final one (20th December) will finish with a poetry event from 3.30pm - 5pm. We'll have mulled wine and mince pies as well an open floor and the first live performance of the piece written during this residency. This is open to everybody so please come and join us!
